Woman stabbed in neck in Prince George, B.C.

A woman is in hospital in serious condition after being stabbed in the neck in Prince George, B.C., Thursday night.

RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said that police were called to a residence on Ruggles Street just after 11 p.m. PT.

Officers found a 21-year-old woman with a stab wound in her neck. She was immediately taken to hospital in Prince George. Early Friday morning, she was transferred to a hospital in Vancouver.

Police arrested a 34-year-old man, and are now trying to determine whether the suspect and the victim knew one another.

"We don't believe that they were in a relationship with each other. We're trying to establish... whether they knew each other, how they knew each other, and the rest of that," he said.

"At this point it's not believed to be a relationship."

Douglass said the suspect remains in police custody, and no charges have yet been recommended.
