13-year-old missing Vancouver boy found on UEL trails

Police in Vancouver say a 13-year-old boy who went missing Sunday afternoon from his West End home was found in apparently good health near the University of British Columbia Monday morning.

Vancouver Police Departmant Sgt. Randy Fincham said Nicholas Graham, who has autism, walked away from his home in the 1600 block of Comox Street at about 3:30 p.m. PT Sunday.

At about 9:30 a.m. PT Monday morning, he was found by a group of walkers on a trail in the University Endowment Lands.

Fincham said that the boy appeared to be in good health and was taken to hospital "as a precaution."

Family members told police that Graham likes to ride transit and spend time in fast-food restaurants.

Vancouver police conducted searches around his home and at transit hubs Sunday, and reached out to other Metro Vancouver police agencies, taxi companies, and local hospitals.

As the hour grew late Sunday, police said they would continue searching through the night, which saw outside temperatures dip below freezing throughout much of Metro Vancouver.
