IHIT spokeswoman Sgt. Jenn Pound says the homicide scene is a house near the intersection of 198 Street and 69 Avenue, just north of the Willowbrook area in Langley.
A man's body was found in the basement after a 911 call drew police to the house at around 7:30 a.m. PT Monday.
Soon after, police identified a potential suspect, but that person led police on a car chase toward Abbotsford.
Langley RCMP Insp. Amrick Virk said a helicopter pilot performing surveying work in the area spotted the suspect's vehicle during the chase and relayed that information to police.
A number of private aircraft operators based at the Langley Airport also volunteered to assist police, Virk said.
The pursuit ended on 264th Street near 48th Avenue, where police forced the suspect's vehicle off the road.
An RCMP cruiser was damaged in the process.
Officers blocked off a stretch of 264th Street south of Highway 1 and north of Fraser Highway for several hours, beginning at around 10:00 a.m. PT, as snow began covering the ground.
The 24-year-old man, who is known to police, was arrested at the scene.
Police are trying to determine the man's relationship to the victim.
The IHIT has not released details on the cause of death.
