OTTAWA -- Federal Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver says he still believes the contentious Northern Gateway oilsands pipeline can be built, but recognizes the federal government has a substantial sales job ahead of it in 2013.

So the Harperites are going to add millions to the MILLIONS spent by Enbridge to advertize this boondoggle. What a waste of money. King Stephen should ask the Chinese about re-education camps. He'd get better bang for our bucks.

Perhaps another round of calling the 75-85% of BC residents who are not for it Eco-terrorists and foreign agents again would do it. Nothing like insults and ridiculous accusations to bring people on board. There is simply no belief that this govt will play straight with the public here.

Oh no you got it all wrong Oliver says that he was misunderstood....the radicals were someone else. Don't know who he was referring to but it was definitely those other guys that are the radicals. Mind you in the interview he was shaking like a candidate for Minamata disease and as you might guess that's not the only symptom.

Now that Harper has eliminated the probability of an environmental disaster occurring as a reason for prohibiting Northern Gateway and given his Cabinet the power to override any decision by the NEB, of course from Oliver's perspective, it can be built.

The only obstacle is the First Nations and Harper is trying to turn ownership of their land over to private band members which would make it so much easier for the government to expropriate it.

Note the Chief Spence affair and you can see how Harper is taking out his fury on aboriginal people for defying his oil industry dreams. He's a petulant little man and he demonstrates his inability to lead each and every day.

Harper wants that pipeline and he and his mindless MP's will keep pushing it, out of right wing principle, until he is turfed out of office.

To mitigate the environmental impact of a bitumen spill, why does Canada not refine the bitumen products further in situ before they are shipped by pipeline or other means to multiple destinations including Easten Canada using the existing Sarnia, ON to Montreal pipeline? Can more flexibility be built into our resouce extraction policies rather than the bull in the china shop policy that seems to drive policy now?

That can't work. That would create Canadian jobs for Canadian companies not as many multinational ones, and not enrich specific American and other shareholders which goes against Alberta standing policy. It would be too much like the richer Norwegians. As well, BC'ers would not be forced to pollute their pristine areas for the sake of Chinese denars. It would also help make Canada energy independent by finally reducing/eliminating imports from the Middle East. It's just wholly unattainable in Harpergeddon given these facts
