GRASSLAND, Alta. - One person is dead and five others have been treated at hospital after a collision involving a bus and a sport utility vehicle in northern Alberta.
The crash happened early Wednesday evening on Highway 63 near the small community of Grassland.
RCMP say the southbound SUV collided with the northbound bus belonging to Red Arrow Motorcoach, sending both vehicles into the ditch.
The SUV driver died at the scene while five people aboard the bus were taken to hospitals in Athabasca and Boyle for treatment of minor injuries.
John Stepovi, a Red Arrow spokesman, says the sold-out coach was travelling from Edmonton to Fort McMurray, and that another bus was brought in to complete the trip.
RCMP say they are not ruling out alcohol as a possible factor in the collision. (CHED)
