PORT HAWKESBURY, N.S. - A group of Nova Scotia parents has decided not to appeal a court ruling upholding the Strait Regional School Board's decision to close two schools.

The board voted last year to close Reverend H.J. MacDonald School in Heatherton and the West Richmond Education Centre in Evanston.

However, parents and residents from both communities filed for a judicial review of the decision.

The case was heard in a Port Hawkesbury courtroom in August.

Nova Scotia Supreme Court Judge Patrick Murray dismissed the community bids to reverse the closures, saying the board had complied with the rules.
