The Montreal Canadiens will kick off their shortened 2013 season on Saturday Jan. 19 on home ice against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The game will be televised on CBC..

The full Canadiens schedule was released on Saturday night, shortly after the NHL and NHLPA signed the memorandum of understanding that officially ended the lockout.

It couldn’t have gotten much worse for the Canadiens last year. A slow start to their season got their coach fired. $7.5-million forward Scott Gomez lived through a goal drought that lasted until February and their top defenceman, Andrei Markov, was injured for most of the season. Needless to say, the Canadiens didn’t make the playoffs.

So what’s in store for them this year? The Habs have a bright light in goalie Carey Price, who can probably steal a game or two and defenceman P.K. Subban is coming into his own. Now if they could only put a few more pucks in the net.
