Trial begins for caregiver accused of sexually assaulting disabled Alberta man

RED DEER, Alta. - A trial has begun in central Alberta for a caregiver accused of sexually assaulting a disabled man.

Leo Ducharme (Doo-SHAHRM'), who is 59, was charged in August 2010.

A Red Deer woman called RCMP to say she had come home to find her son being sexually assaulted.

The disabled man was 29 at the time.

His mother is expected to testify during the trial, which is scheduled to run until Friday.
