Bears hire Alouettes' Marc Trestman as head coach: reports

Marc Trestman reportedly is bolting the CFL for the NFL to coach the Chicago Bears.

Media reports indicate that Chicago settled Tuesday night on Trestman, who won two Grey Cups in five seasons as head coach of the Montreal Alouettes.

Seattle Seahawks offensive co-ordinator Darrell Bevell and Indianapolis Colts offensive co-ordinator Bruce Arians were among the other candidates considered for the job.

Trestman, 57, has plenty of NFL experience, having served as offensive co-ordinator for the Cleveland Browns (1988-89), San Francisco 49ers (1995-96), Arizona Cardinals (1998-2000) and Oakland Raiders (2001-03).

He posted a 59-31 career record as head coach in Montreal.
