HALIFAX - The federal government says it will spend $20,000 to preserve a historic site in Halifax best known as the Round Church.

Defence Minister Peter MacKay issued a statement today saying St. George’s Anglican Church is a masterpiece of Palladian architecture.

The federal government says St. George's is the only 19th century example of a round church in Canada.

The money from Parks Canada will be used to preserve the stonework and masonry of the church's foundation walls.
