Jordin Tootoo ready for first Detroit Red Wings game

Nunavut's Jordin Tootoo says he's looking forward to beginning the NHL season with his new team.

The right winger is currently at the Detroit Red Wings' training camp.

He says he'll never forget his nine years with the Nashville Predators. But, he says Detroit is a great team and wearing a Red Wings jersey is a special feeling.

“This is a whole new chapter in my hockey career and things are definitely different,” he said. “You're used to a certain lifestyle in Nashville. You get used to that but obviously Detroit here is a whole new experience for me. I feel like I'm fitting in just fine with all the guys."

Tootoo's first game with his new team is on the road against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.

He's says it's going to be an intense compact season with a lot of games in a short time.
