West Quebec driver dies after snowplow crash

A 33-year-old man has died from injuries suffered after his vehicle swerved into the path of a snowplow on Highway 148 about an hour west of Gatineau, Que.

Quebec provincial police say Timothy Craig was driving his vehicle at about 11:20 a.m. Sunday along the highway near the town of Bristol, Que., when he swerved into the path of a plow travelling in the opposite direction.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but he later died in hospital.

Highway 148 was closed to traffic for eight hours as police investigated, but the road has since been reopened. Police have not said if alcohol or speed was a factor in the crash.

An autopsy will be conducted in Montreal.
