McMorris won two gold medals in 2012 and is one of the favourites to land atop the podium this weekend in Aspen, Colorado.
The 19-year-old became the first person to land a triple cork in last year's big air final. McMorris also won gold in the slopestyle competition.
"I have a lot of pressure now going back into X Games," McMorris said. "I think I'm ready and I like the pressure."
A publication called "ESPN The Magazine" features McMorris in its current issue, which profiles athletes it says will define the future of sports.
McMorris will battle the most famous snowboarder in the world, Shaun White, for what ESPN is calling the King of Hill.
The slopestyle event will become an Olympic sport in 2014 and the teen from Regina will be a medal favourite.
"It happens once every four years, and a lot of people care about the Olympics and so do I," McMorris said. "I'm going to be ready for when it comes around."
McMorris will battle Shaun White in the slopestyle showdown on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. CST. The X Games big air final is at 8 p.m. CST on Saturday.
