Alberta Winter Driving Video Shows Unpredictable Road Conditions

WATCH: Drive On Icy Road GoesWrong

A video released by the Alberta government shows how quickly a drive on an icy road in Alberta can take a turn for the worse when road conditions deteriorate.

The video, released by the Alberta Justice and Solicitor General, shows a car driving on a highway that is suddenly faced with changing weather.

The car is changing lanes when its wheels lose traction and the vehicle skids across the road. It then rolls and lands on the side of the road in a matter of seconds.

The video's description says the driver was able to away safe and appears to have been recorded from an RCMP vehicle.

"Road conditions can change in heartbeat," states the video. "Be ready for anything and drive for the conditions."

The video called, "Could this be you?" is a part of Alberta's Safe Communities initiative aimed at keeping Alberta's roadways safe.
