Christopher Sharafi, 46, is facing 13 charges ranging from mischief to possession of stolen property and wearing a disguise.
Police believe he has been stalking then robbing small store owners, lying in wait for them as they buy large amounts of cigarettes from Costco outlets across the island.
Sgt. Gary Schenk says it's believed $100,000 dollars worth of cigarettes was stolen over the past six months.
"Just by nature of the sheer number of offences, the dollar value of the stolen property and the unique methods involved...it was certainly a very interesting investigation and a very challenging one," he said.
Sharafi is slated to be back in court in West Shore on Monday.
