Bundle up, Alberta. It's going to be a frosty one today.

Environment Canada has issued a blowing snow warning for many parts of southeastern Alberta, including the City of Calgary, as high winds and flying snow make road conditions slippery and visibility bad.

There are also wind chill warnings in effect for parts of northern Alberta, including Edmonton, with temperatures expected to plunge lower than -40 C this afternoon.

Cold arctic air has moved into northern and central Alberta, says Environment Canada, creating harsh wind chills and high winds.

Frostbite, in these extreme temperatures, can occur in less than 10 minutes.

In Edmonton, light snow is expected Tuesday night and temperatures will rise to -20 by Wednesday.

Temperatures in Calgary will also rise Wednesday to -9 C and continue to climb throughout the week, hitting highs of 8 C by the weekend.
