Mounties have issued a warning after the release of Bruce Windsor, a child porn convict who they believe poses a significant risk to the public, especially young girls.

He will reside in Stony Plain, Alta.

Windsor was released Tuesday after serving two years for possessing, and printing or publishing child pornography, as well as failing to comply with probation orders. He has also been convicted of accessing child pornography and sexual interference.

"The RCMP believe that there is a risk of significant harm to the health and safety of the public and, in particular, young females," said Cpl. Colette Zazulak, with the Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP.

"The RCMP is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation and consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community of the release of Windsor."

According to the conditions of his release, Windsor is not to attend any public park or public swimming area where persons under the age of 14 years are present or can reasonably be expected to be present, as well as day care centres, school grounds, playgrounds or community centres.

He's also prohibited from working or volunteering in any capacity that would put him in a position of authority over children and he's not to use a computer to communicate with anyone under the age of 14.

"Members of the public are advised that the intent of the process is to enable members of the public to take suitable precautionary measures and not to embark on any form of vigilante action," said Zazulak.

"Anyone believing that a crime has been or is about to be committed is encouraged to call police."

Windsor is described as Caucasian, 51 years of age, 180 cm tall, weighing approximately 80 kg, with blue eyes and grey hair.
