RED DEER, Alta. - A psychiatric assessment has been ordered for a central Alberta man accused of killing his father.

Aaron Guilbault (Gill-BOW') has been in custody since last fall when he was charged with second-degree murder.

The body of Timothy Guilbault, who was 58, was found in his residence near Innisfail on Nov. 5.

The elder Guilbault was a former Red Deer city councillor and a businessman in Calgary.

The cause of death has not been released.

Guilbault’s lawyer asked for the assessment to see if his 31-year-old client is fit to stand trial.

The matter is to return to court on Feb. 27.
