Trial date set for Alberta man accused of shooting Mounties during standoff

WETASKIWIN, Alta. - A trial date has been set for a central Alberta man accused of shooting two RCMP officers and another person during a standoff.

Bradley Beaver of the Breton (BREH'-tuhn) area faces several charges that include three counts of attempted murder.

A 35-year-old man was shot at a rural home west of Breton in December 2011 and the two Mounties were shot during the ensuing standoff.

No one was seriously injured.

Beaver, who is 39, has pleaded not guilty.

His eight-day trial is to begin Feb. 3 of next year in Wetaskiwin Court of Queen's Bench.
