MONCTON, N.B. - New Brunswick Power says electricity for about 300 customers should be restored later today following a fierce wind storm that knocked out power for thousands in the province.

The Crown utility says crews have been working around the clock to restore electricity since the storm hit on Thursday.

At the height of the wind storm, NB Power reported 39,000 customers had lost electricity.

The utility says if all goes as planned, power for the remaining 300 customers in the Rothesay area will be restored by Sunday night.

Utility crews from Quebec and Nova Scotia were called in to help with the restoration effort.
