Elderly woman hit, killed in Markham, Ont., crosswalk

York Regional Police say that an elderly woman was killed when she was struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk in Markham, Ont., on Tuesday morning.

According to a news release, police were called to the intersection of Carlton Road and Central Park Drive at 9 a.m.

A collision reconstruction team attended the scene.

Police say investigators have determined that a black Mitsubishi was heading south on Central Park Drive and made a left turn onto Carlton Road when the collision occurred.

The victim, whom police describe as an elderly Markham woman, died at the scene.

The Mitsubishi driver was not injured.

Police continue to investigate. They are asking witnesses to the crash to contact investigators.
