The two groups will be discussing their recommendations at the annual Business and Families First Dialogue in Surrey this morning.
“We're interested in getting some feedback and an understanding of what the views of the business community are through this initial dialogue,” said Burnaby Board of Trade CEO Paul Holden.
“I assume we'll be expanding upon the three main areas that were discussed last year through the Surrey Board of Trade's plan that they announced."
Last year, the Surrey Board of Trade made a call for $10 a day childcare — one of three recommendations the board made to the provincial government.
Minister of Children and Family Development Stephanie Cadieux will be speaking at today's event.
Surrey Board of Trade CEO Anita Patil Huberman hopes the minister will address the issue.
“If $10 a day childcare is not possible, where can we begin? The reality is that Canada is the only developed nation that does not have a childcare policy. We want B.C. to be a leader,” she said.
Huberman hopes a time-oriented action plan will come out of the event.
