CONKLIN, Alta. - One man has been killed and two others injured in a crash on Highway 881 in northern Alberta.

RCMP say they were called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision on Wednesday afternoon about 45 kilometres south of Conklin.

They say the 54-year-old driver of one vehicle died at the scene while the 39-year-old driver and 24-year-old passenger of the other vehicle were taken to hospital in critical condition.

Both were airlifted to Edmonton hospitals.

The highway was closed for several hours while police investigated.
