If you happened to notice the stars shining a bit brighter over Banff this week, it might have something to do with a bit of residual star power left hanging in the air.

In the 11 years of the fundraiser, the event has raised more than $10 million for world waterway protection, bringing the stars back year after year to ski, toboggan and snowboard at Sunshine Village.

After long days spent enduring the cold, the A-listers filled their time at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel with celebrity poker tournaments, a gala and concert by country crooner Lyle Lovett.

"This is an important weekend for celebrating the world’s waterways and raising funds to ensure every community has access to swimmable, drinkable, fishable water,” said Marc Yaggi, Executive Director of Waterkeeper Alliance.

Along with Brosnan and Sarandon, other celebrities to throw their names behind the charity included Alan Thicke, Fran Drescher, Cheryl Hines, Minnie Driver, Al Joyner, Michael Keaton, Marcia Gay Harden and Camryn Manheim.

“Sunshine Village is delighted to once again host Hollywood in support of the Waterkeeper Alliance,” said Ralph Scurfield, President and principal owner of Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort.

Notably absent this year was Alec Baldwin, the host in previous years, who could not make it to Banff.

“He’s involved with the Super Bowl or he would be here and he will be here in the future,” Mark Mattson, Canadian spokesman for the Waterkeeper Alliance, told the Calgary Herald.
