The NHLPA announced that their "Goals & Dreams" fund will donate 15 sets of brand new hockey equipment each to the Kawartha Komets, Kawartha Blazers, Peterborough Patriots, Peterborough Hockey Association, and Peterborough Girls Hockey Association.
The total value of the donation is approximately $50,000.
"The NHLPA Goals and Dreams fund is very pleased to help disabled and youth hockey in Peterborough through the donation of equipment to these five local programs,” Steve Webb, NHLPA Divisional Player Representative, said in a release. "We hope the players’ donation will have a positive impact on this outstanding hockey community by giving the participants in these programs a greater opportunity to play the game."
The NHLPA's fund makes an annual equipment donation to grassroots hockey as part of Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada and over the last 13 years, more than 60,000 youngsters in 32 countries have benefited from the players' donations of hockey equipment, valued at over $21 million.
