Boy found dead on outdoor skating rink northeast of Montreal

A nine-year-old boy was found dead on a outdoor skating rink Saturday morning in Saint-Séverin, about 200 kilometres northeast of Montreal.

According to provincial police, the boy was most likely playing hockey alone on the rink around 9 a.m. when the hockey net fell on him.

Two city workers found the boy on the ice.

He was declared dead at a Shawinigan hospital.
