Police investigate homicide of Sainte-Thérèse woman

The death of a 56-year-old woman is being investigated as a homicide by police in Sainte-Thérèse north of Montreal.

Martine Clément was found in an apartment unit at 270 du Domaine Boulevard at about 6:30 p.m. Monday evening.

Neighbours who saw the woman lying on the ground through her apartment window contacted police.

The woman, who had marks of violence on her upper body, was confirmed dead at the hospital.

The police force for Thérèse-De Blainville initially opened the investigation, but Sgt. Martin Charron said the case will likely be transferred to the Sûreté du Québec. Charron said investigators have ruled out suicide.

A security perimeter has been set up and so far no suspects have been taken into custody.
