Kelsea Joy Hepburn, Calgary Ringette Coach Found Guilty

Posted: Updated:

CALGARY - A jury has found a 22-year-old former ringette coach guilty of sexual interference and sexual touching in a case involving a 13-year-old player.

Kelsea Hepburn had denied the charges, insisting she did everything she could to keep her distance from the girl who she described as a mixed-up child who would not leave her alone.

The girl, who is now 15, testified the relationship began in December of 2010 and ended when her mother found the two with their pants down.

The girl's mother testified her daughter was going through a tough time and had confided in the coach.

She said she herself had recently been diagnosed with cancer and her daughter was also grieving the death of her grandmother.

The mom said the girl went to the coach in a moment of weakness.

No date has been set yet for sentencing.
