DELTA, B.C. - A 17-year-old male has been charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with two stabbings on the Tsawwassen (ta-WA-sun) First Nation south of Vancouver.

Const. Ciaran (KEE-run) Feenan of the Delta Police Department says the teen was arrested Saturday morning.

He says investigators arrived at the scene at about 10 p.m. Friday and found a 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl suffering from stab wounds.

Feenan says the older girl was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital and that the 15-year-old female remains in critical condition.

Police believe the suspect and the victims knew each other.

No names have been released.
