Calgary Harlem Shake Joins In On Latest YouTube Craze (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

WATCH: Harlem Shake In Calgary

Over 100 Calgarians gathered at the Wonderland sculpture beneath the city's Bow Tower to film the Harlem Shake, the latest viral dance craze.

Organizer Julie Phillips said the idea grew out of a Twitter conversation and was one of her "3 Things for Calgary," a challenge by Mayor Naheed Nenshi to take action to make the city better.

"We just wanted to get on it before the trend fades," she said.

"It's also a great way to energize Calgary's downtown."

Production company MEDIAPOP Creative, Mobile Beat Entertainment and artist DJ Tell-X were quick to jump on board, Phillips said.

The video features a robot dancing alone before two men dressed as cookies run into the frame, with a man dressed as Cookie Monster chasing them. The robot decks Cookie Monster before the beat drops and a party erupts beside the sculpture.

The video was posted Monday and has garnered 150 views as of press time.
