A 17-year-old snowboarder was reported dead last night after what appears to have been an accident.
Charles Désourdy, the president and director of Ski Bromont, said the young man was found lying on his stomach on top of a rock at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday night.
The rock was in a ditch between two easy, or green, trails. Désourdy said ski patrollers believe the teen died at the scene.
The snowboarder was wearing a helmet and did not appear to have hit his head.
On Friday, an 18-year-old skier died from his injuries, after he fell while attempting a jump.
Désourdy says the two deaths were in completely different areas of the hill.
Claude Péloquin, the director of the Association of Ski Centres of Quebec, said there have been a total of four deaths on the province's ski hills this year. In all of the cases, the victim was wearing a helmet, Péloquin said.
After every incident, Désourdy said his staff look into whether there is a need for increased safety measures.Suggest a correction
