Tiffany June Goruk, 30 and boyfriend Jeremy Daniel Snow, 33, both of West Kelowna, were found dead in a sport-utility vehicle outside a condominium complex in the 2700 block of Auburn Road.
The black SUV appeared to have crashed into a parking lot lamp post, but investigators determined their deaths were not caused by the collision.
A man was seen fleeing the vehicle and police dogs were used to track the man over several kilometres, but he was not found.
A Facebook page created in Goruk's memory indicates she was mother of two young sons. She had no criminal record.
Meanwhile, Snow was already well-known to police.
In 2008, Snow was investigated in the death of a 27-year-old Vernon resident who was allegedly shot and killed in a targeted attack.
Snow was never charged, but less than a year later, he was caught in a DEA sting operation, flying marijuana and ecstasy by helicopter into Northern Idaho for organized crime.
Snow received a surprisingly lenient jail term — less than four years — and the privilege of serving some of that time in a Canadian prison.
Snow was transferred to Canada in 2011 and got out of jail last year.
A Facebook page in his memory indicates that he was the father of a young daughter.
Police ask that anyone with information relating to the deaths contact West Kelowna RCMP at (250) 768-2880 or via Crime Stoppers.
