Pender Street Stabbings Yield Surrey Man's Arrest

Downtown Vancouver Stabbing Spree

Vancouver police have arrested a 23-year-old Surrey man in connection with three Friday night stabbings that appear to be related.

Police found a man with an apparent stab wound to the stomach on Keefer Street and Taylor Street at around 11 p.m. He was taken to hospital with what police call "serious, life-threatening injuries," the Vancouver police said in a Saturday morning news release.

Officers arrested their suspect without incident as he stood in front of the McDonald's at Pender Street and Abbott Streets. He is facing assault and weapons-related charges.

Police found a second victim inside the McDonald's who had slash wounds on her hands and a third victim on West Pender Street with a slash wound to his neck. Both had minor injuries.

The slashings come weeks after a West End stabbing spree that sent seven people to hospital.
