When Anthony Bourdain took to Reddit to answer reader questions, we expected drug references and some hate for the Travel Channel, but professing his love for Quebec was the icing on the cake.

The TV personality, author and chef's recent 'Ask Me Anything' (AMA) segment on the user-generated website had Bourdain doing what he does best: Telling it like it is. He also showed some appreciation for Canada's food scene in the process.

One Redditor asked, "Hey Tony, where would you rank Joe Beef in your list of favourite restaurants? And where would you rank Montreal among other "food cities"?

Bourdain responded with some glowing praise.

"I LOVE Joe Beef, LOVE Montreal. And think Martin Picard is a genius. I'm all about Quebec," he wrote.

"How was your visit to Montreal? Did you enjoy McMillans [sic] spots?" another reader asked.

"Dave McMillan and Fred Morin are brilliant, bon vivant, scholarly chefs par excellence. AND they look good in Speedos. If you are lucky enough to have them as friends, you are very lucky indeed. HIGHLY recommend JOE BEEF and LIVERPOOL HOUSE in Montreal. They are my mentors in Quebec," Bourdain responded.

Bourdain's appreciation for Montreal's cuisine is well-documented.

"It's the most uniquely Canadian food in Canada," he told the Canadian Press last year when explaining why heading to Montreal for an episode of 'The Layover' was a must.

"It speaks of a personal agenda so deranged or corrupted as the [sic] throw the entire enterprise into disrepute. Both restaurants are in fact, Canada's best and most Influential cultural ambassadors," he wrote in a widely-circulated email.

Bourdain also visited Toronto last year, checking out everything from the city's knife-sharpening skills to drinking bourbon out of a hollowed out bone.

But there's no question that Montreal is where he's met his true food soulmates, as mid-February Twitter escapades revealed him taking in a Canadiens' hockey game, going ice fishing and eating on a skating rink, all while accompanied by famed chefs Martin Picard, Frederic Morin and David MacMillan. He'll be back in the city on May 5 for his "Guts and Glory" tour.

But to get up close and personal with Bourdain, you don't have to go much further than the rest of his AMA, as he shares tidbits about his worst drug experience and hate for Paula Deen.
