The NHL Heritage Classic could be making its way to Vancouver.

The National Hockey League is reportedly looking to organize four outdoor hockey games in the 2013-14 season, with a Heritage Classic that could take place Vancouver, reports online hockey magazine The Fourth Period, citing anonymous sources.

The magazine went on to say that the league is looking at organizing the games because the "revenue possibilities are signficant."

Editor-in-chief David Pagnotta said that the league is looking at BC Place Stadium as a venue for one of its mega-popular outdoor games, CTV reported.

"They want to spread things out a little bit, you don’t want to necessarily be in your most traditional markets or most traditional environments in terms of bringing a Heritage Classic or a Winter Classic or just an outdoor game," he told the network.

BC Place officials would not confirm or deny the rumours, the network added.

The NHL began the Heritage Classic in 2003, when it organized an outdoor regular season game in Edmonton between the Oilers and the Montreal Canadiens. The event also had a "Megastars" game that drew retired hockey stars such as Wayne Gretzky and Guy Lafleur, CBC reported.

The NHL also hosts an annual event called the Winter Classic, which sends teams outside for a regular season game. The 2013 NHL Winter Classic between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings was cancelled due to the NHL Lockout.
