The Finnish stalwart has been out with a knee sprain, last playing for the Flames in a 4-1 win over Detroit on Feb. 5.
Kiprusoff appeared in all but 60 games for Calgary between 2005-06 and 2011-12, so the injury put the spotlight on Calgary's depth in net.
The Flames have gone 6-5-2 since Kiprusoff went down, using three other netminders since then — Joey MacDonald, Danny Taylor and Leland Irving.
MacDonald will stay on, with Taylor being sent back to the American Hockey League.
The 36-year-old Kiprusoff enjoyed a tremendous 2011-12 campaign statistically, but through seven games this season has a 3.23 goals-against average and .870 save percentage.
Calgary is currently in 13th place in the Western Conference, but has at least two games in hand on most of the teams just above them in the standings.Suggest a correction
