Stompin' Tom: Canada's Musicians React To The Death Of An Icon

If there was ever a man who strode this earth that epitomized the opposite of Twitter culture, it was Stompin' Tom Connors. Yet the Canadian music icon who passed away suddenly on March 6 at the age of 77 nonetheless became a trending topic as his countrymen and women let fly their sadness in 140 character bursts.

And not just regular folk either, but Connors' musical peers who clearly respected the man whose 300 song catalogue was like an encyclopedia of Canadiana. Everyone from legendary children's entertainer Raffi to hipster icons Death From Above 1979 found themselves expressing their mourning on Twitter.
