Four people claim ownership of Orville, dog shot in Brome Lake

Four different people have come forward claiming to be the owners of Orville, the dog in the Eastern Townships who was shot in the head and left for dead.

The Australian shepherd mix was discovered last week in a ditch by a woman out walking her dogs.

He had been shot in the back of the head. Orville is now on the mend, though the .22 calibre bullet exploded and remains lodged in his skull.

The Eastern Townships animal protection society shelter in Cowansville said the four people who’ve come forward are related and are blaming each other for shooting and abandoning Orville.

For its part, the shelter that has been caring for Orville wants to keep him.

Workers there said he would make a great ambassador against animal cruelty.

The Sûreté du Québec is still investigating.
