Hedley, B.C., death deemed a homicide

Police in B.C.'s Similkameen region have determined a 55-year-old man who was found dead in his home this week is a victim of homicide.

RCMP Const. Lesley Smith said friends of the man called police to the home in Hedley on Wednesday night.

Officers arrived at about 8 p.m. PT and found the man dead.

The death was deemed suspicious, police said Thursday. On Friday, the case was announced as a homicide investigation.

On Monday, police identified the 55-year-old victim as Douglas Smith, of Hedley.

Smith said police could not release any other details because the investigation is ongoing.

The small town of Hedley is located midway between Princeton and Keremeos along Highway 3.
