British Columbians better prepare for a cold, wet spring as weather forecasters predict rainy conditions after what's been called a "rather dry" start to the year.
Vancouver and Victoria are expected to see wetter conditions, thanks in large part to cooler-than-normal waters in the eastern Pacific Ocean that are influencing temperatures on B.C.'s west coast, said Brett Anderson, an AccuWeather.com meteorologist, in a Tuesday news release.
Cooler temperatures are expected to trend into the summer, which will deny people sunlight but create some excellent ski conditions, Anderson added.
Other forecasts see things a little differently. Near normal conditions are expected for Haida Gwaii, northern B.C. and the west coast of Vancouver Island, while central interior B.C. will see rain below normal levels, the Weather Network reported.
Colder-than-average conditions are expected right across western Canada, while northern and eastern Canada are expected to see above average temperatures throughout the spring.
