The unidentified suspect decided to act after a photo of him, allegedly taken by the victim during the altercation, was released to the public.
Transit police spokesperson Anne Drennan said the man has been very cooperative.
"We appreciate the fact that, once he saw himself in the media, he did come forward and was very compliant, and was willing to provide us with as much information as he could," she said.
The incident occurred on February 20th, when the man — who was sitting in an electric wheelchair — allegedly ran over the foot of a woman who was seven months pregnant, while racing to get into an elevator.
Video surveillance footage shows an argument ensued, with slaps and punches thrown back and forth.
Once on street level, the man allegedly punched the woman repeatedly in the face, head and stomach before leaving the area.
She suffered numerous cuts, bruises and scratches to her face, hands and legs, but was released from hospital later that evening.
