David Chaykowski, 59, appeared with his wife Gloria, 58 to claim the Lotto Max jackpot Friday in Saskatoon.
The industrial mechanic said he planned to make a phone call and quit his job right away.
Chaykowski picked a ticket for the March 8 draw with the right seven numbers — 9, 15,17,28, 35, 39 and 41 — to claim Saskatchewan's second-biggest lottery win ever.
He said he still can't believe his good fortune and that he and his wife went over the numbers repeatedly to verify they had won.
The Chaykowski's, who have three children, said they don't have any immediate plans for a big trip or a spending spree.
He bought the ticket in Big River, which is in the northern part of the province, about 130 kilometres northwest of Prince Albert.
The largest jackpot in Saskatchewan history went to John and Darlene Kinzel of Paradise Hill, who won $40 million in the Aug. 19, 2011 Lotto Max draw.
