Ontario man's traffic stop leads to charges; 50 pounds of pot in pickup

BANFF, Alta. - An Ontario man is facing drug charges after police pulled over a vehicle for speeding in Banff National Park.

Mounties say they stopped a pickup on the Trans-Canada Highway near the gates to the Rocky Mountain park around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

A RCMP service dog detected a controlled substance, and police say they did a search and found nearly 22 kilograms of marijuana in the vehicle.

Police say that amount of marijuana has a street value of $225,000.

Mark Rowsell, who is 50, of Bala, Ont., is set to appear in court next month.
