VANCOUVER - Hundreds of teachers from around the province are gathering this weekend to usher out the old and welcome the new.

The BC Teachers' Federation is going to elect a new president during its four-day conference in Vancouver.

Teachers will also talk about issues like funding cuts, student-to-teacher ratios, collective bargaining and the future of online learning in the year to come.

The BCTF's outgoing president Susan Lambert says the issues are particularly timely if the May provincial election brings a new government.

The BCTF launches voting for a new president on Monday.
