Family member of dead Surrey woman arrested

Homicide investigators have arrested a family member of a 43-year-old woman who was found dead inside a North Surrey fourplex.

Officers with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team say Jackie Olson died after an apparent domestic dispute late Monday afternoon.

Police responded to the home on 103A Avenue near Old Yale Road in the Whalley area, after receiving a call from a concerned neighbour at around 5 p.m. PT.

IHIT Sgt. Jennifer Pound said Olson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators canvassed the neighbourhood and searched for clues in and around the home into the night.

Pound said they made an arrest early Tuesday.

“In the early morning hours of March 19, 2013, a family member was arrested in connection to the homicide of Jackie Olson," Pound said in a written statement.

"This individual is currently in custody and IHIT are continuing to sort through the evidence and determine what led up to this tragic crime,” Pound said in a written statement.
