Vancouver's perfect man is an intelligent, athletic non-smoker with a master's degree who earns $100,000 to $150,000 per year, according to online survey results released by a dating site.
The consensus comes from 1,013 Vancouver women who are members of WhatsYourPrice.com, a website that auctions off first dates. The women were asked to rank the most important qualities they were looking for in a man, said a Wednesday news release from the company.
The perfect Vancouver guy also has brown hair with brown eyes, and is a social drinker.
The results apparently show that Vancouver women are looking for more genuine connections that their American counterparts, said Leroy Velasquez, the site's public relations manager.
"The U.S. tended to be more superficial they ranked income and body type higher than Canada in general," he told The Huffington Post B.C.
The study found that women in major cities across Canada all ranked "personality" high. Toronto women valued funny men the most, while Montreal women sought confidence and Vancouver women treasured intelligence, said Velasquez.
"It sheds light on what type of suitors these types of women are looking for when they go on these first dates," he said.
WhatsYourPrice.com connects people who bid on the opportunity to take others on a first date. It's designed for people who "may not be as outgoing or good-looking or a 'standard type'" to show they're serious about dating someone who may not otherwise give that person a chance, explained Velasquez.
He pointed out that a woman, for example, spends an average of $80 on things like hair or an outfit to get ready for a date, so accepting an auction bid means she has nothing to lose and she may end up dating outside of her "type."
Vancouver men bid an average $301 for a first date with a woman, reported 24 Hrs Vancouver last year.
Started in 2011, the Las-Vegas based site now counts 600,000 members worldwide, including 39,000 in Canada. There's a ratio of three women to every man out of the 6,000 people signed up in the Vancouver area, said Velasquez.
