CIDA Shutdown: Twitter Reacts To Aid Agency Merger With Foreign Affairs

TWEETS: CIDA Shutdown Angers Some Canadians

One of the few items that drew anger in a relatively cautious 2013 budget was the decision to merge CIDA, Canada's agency responsible for delivering foreign aid, with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

"This enhanced alignment of our foreign, development, trade and commercial policies and programs will allow the government to have greater policy coherence on priority issues and will result in greater overall impact of our efforts," the budget document said in explaining the decision.

The move drew anger from many on Twitter while others pointed out that the move was common in many other countries. See some of the reactions below:
