Four people in hospital after Verdun fire

Four people are in hospital and three apartments were destroyed after a fire broke out this afternoon on a residential street of Verdun.

The fire started around 2 p.m. today on the top floor of a five-plex on Third Avenue near Wellington Street.

It took 60 firefighters more than an hour to put it out.

Six people, including two children, were overcome by smoke, but no fatalities have been reported.

Investigators are now looking into the source of the fire.
