Former employee accused of defrauding Alberta bank of $1.1M

LEDUC, Alta. - An Alberta woman is accused of defrauding a bank where she used to work of $1.1 million.

Michelle Sparrow, who is 42, faces three charges of fraud and one of theft.

RCMP allege Sparrow obtained credit and funds using existing and fictitious client accounts at a branch of the Royal Bank in Hinton, Alta.

Sparrow worked at the bank between May 2001 and August 2007.

The accused, who now lives in Leduc, Alta, is to appear in Hinton provincial court on April 3.
