More than 300 people stood in a windy B.C. park, protecting candles lit to remember Rachel Pernosky, whose body was found in an embankment earlier this week.

Pernosky's one-year-old son, other family, and friends were part of the crowd at Mission's Heritage Park on Thursday night reported The Vancouver Sun. Pernosky, 18, went missing from her Mission home just after midnight Saturday, leaving her purse and cellphone behind.

Her body was found dumped in Chilliwack on Tuesday morning. Homicide investigators believe Pernosky, who used social media extensively, may have met her killer online, said the newspaper.

More than 30 police officers are working on the case, reported Global BC. No arrests have been made so far, but police are speaking to several "persons of interest."

Pernosky's son was with his father at the time of her disappearance, and he's been ruled out as a suspect, said police.

Mourners on Thursday night described the slain mom as "loving" and "wonderful," said Global.

A benefit concert is scheduled for Friday night at Sniper's Pool Hall in Mission at 10 p.m., reported the Mission City Record.
